Thai pub, Food 5/5, Price £6.95 for a main, Waiting time about 5 mins, Atmosphere 5/5, Address 119 Kensington Church Street, London W8 7LN
A brilliant Thai pub! On relentlessly chic and expensive Kensington Church Street, Churchill Arms is like an oasis offering the comfort of a traditional British pub. It’s spacious but the slightly ramshackle paraphanaelia and the fireplace make it feel really cozy. What more could you possibly ask for, a warm, tasty Thai curry? For £6.95, they have that too. Enjoy it by the fireplace or in the conservatory restaurant area.
The curries, with a huge mound of rice, are bought to you almost immediately after you order by lovely staff. The sweet-spicy green curry was fragrant and well balanced, with plenty of vegetables and tender chicken. I ignored the warning that the jungle curry would be very hot and ordered it anyway. It was painfully fierce but still delicious.
I can’t wait to go back and try their stir-fries and pad thai noodles too. It’s definitely worth a visit if just to see the crazy flower-covered building exterior.
